We carry out workplace health, safety and welfare inspections.
If a business fails to meet the required health and safety standards, we can serve a notice requiring the proprietor to take action.
We can also serve a notice that prevents the use of an item of equipment or larger part of the business.
In some circumstances we will report matters to the Procurator Fiscal.
We have a duty to investigate certain workplace incidents. Employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises must report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and specified dangerous occurrences. Reports should be made via the HSE website.
