Electrical items

Recycling centres accept electrical and electronic equipment including:

  • cookers
  • domestic fridges and freezers
  • washing machines
  • tumble dryers
  • hairdryers
  • irons
  • microwaves
  • televisions
  • monitors
  • computers
  • disposable vapes
  • smoke alarms

Please remove batteries first, and put them in the batteries container at the recycling centre.

You can also pay for us to uplift larger electrical items from outside your home.

Don't put electrical items in household bins.

Retailers

Electrical retailers often collect old items when delivering new items. Ask about this service when shopping.

Charity shops

You can donate functioning and clean electrical equipment such as fridges, cookers and microwaves to charity shops and reuse organisations.

The British Heart Foundation’s reuse cabin in Arbroath recycling centre accepts donations of large household electrical items (but not cookers and tumble driers) and small electrical items (such as TVs, DVD players, lamps and so on.
