Until every household gets their new blue bin, how you recycle glass bottles and jars will vary, depending on whether you have a blue bin.

If you have a blue bin

Take glass jars and bottles (any colour) to a glass recycling point.

You can suggest a location for a new glass recycling point on Engage Angus.

If you don't yet have a blue bin

You can put bottles and jars in your grey bin if you don't yet have a blue bin.

Other types of glass

Fluorescent tubes and energy saving light bulbs can be taken to any recycling centre and left in the fluorescent tube container: these items should never be put in your grey or purple bin as they contain hazardous substances.

Other sorts of glass such as mirrors, window panes, fish tanks, old style light bulbs are accepted at Arbroath, Carnoustie, Forfar and Montrose recycling centres as nonrecyclable (general) waste.

Heat resistant cooking ware (such as Pyrex) and drinking glasses can go in the rubble skip.
