Scottish birth, death or marriage certificates, from 1855 onwards, or Civil Partnership Certificates from 2004 can be ordered from any registrars' office in Scotland.
If the event took place in the current year we can only supply certificates for events registered within our local offices in Arbroath, Forfar and Montrose.
Ordering a certificate
To order a certificate through Angus Council you must order and pay online.
The certificate will be posted to the requested address as soon as possible.
We only accept applications from within the UK.
Fees
The fee for all certificates is £15.00 plus first class postage.
Additional certificates of the same entry cost £10.00 per certificate if ordered at the same time.
If a certificate is purchased within one calendar month from the date that the birth, death or marriage was registered, the fee is only £10.00 per certificate plus first class postage.

England And Wales
To order a certificate from England or Wales, contact either the registrar in the area where the event was originally registered, or the General Register Office.
Adoption Certificates
Local registration offices do not hold records of people adopted in Scotland. These can ordered from the National Records of Scotland.
Divorces
Local registration offices do not hold records of people divorced in Scotland. These can be ordered either from the sheriff court where the divorce was granted or from the National Records of Scotland.
