What we need and why
The council is the ‘Data Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. Environmental Health will only collect personal data about you which we need in order to provide our services to you.
We will routinely collect your name, address, telephone number and email address. We may occasionally collect information about your health (in connection to communicable diseases).
What we do with your personal information
We use personal information so that we can provide the following services: pest control treatments, registration and inspection of businesses (such as food providers, childminders and animal establishments), food hygiene training, health and safety investigations, private water supply testing and provision of grants.
We may share your information with third parties such as NHS Tayside, pest control contractors, funeral director contractors, The Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland and Food Standards Scotland.
How we collect your information
Your personal information may be collected on either a paper or online form, by telephone, email or by a member of our staff.
Your personal information is held on servers within the EEA and processed by our staff in the UK. No third parties have access to your personal data unless permitted by law.
The council maintains data protection controls in line with the General Data Protection Regulation, other data protection legislation and its own Information Security Policy to ensure the effective and secure processing of your personal information.
How long we keep it
As we are providing you with an environmental health service we will keep your information for the duration of the service provision. If you have made a payment for a service or received a grant from us then we are required under UK tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of six years after which time it will be destroyed.
