What we need and why
The council is the ‘Data Controller’ of the personal data you provide to us. We only collect personal data about you which we need to allow us to administer our shared equity scheme.
This will include your name, gender, date of birth, ethnic origin, residency status, communication needs, and contact details.
We will also ask you for financial information related to your savings, earnings, expenditure, and mortgage provider as this allows us to make a decision on whether you qualify for the scheme as well as what financial contribution you will need to make.
We will ask you for information about your carer or relatives, if it is required to support your application to the shared equity scheme.
We will ask you for information about any physical or mental health conditions or support needs, if it is required to support your application to the scheme.
We will ask you for the details of your current housing situation and evidence of such to support your application to the scheme.
Who we share information with
We will share this information with the agent who will be administering the scheme and who you will have supplied this information to.
We will share this information with the following Angus Council departments to allow for effective administration of the scheme
Enablement Team, Angus Council
Legal services, Angus Council
Finance, Angus Council.
We will share information with your selected legal representative and mortgage provider to allow for the purchase of the property and equity loan to be provided.
What we do with it
Your personal information is held on servers within the EEA and processed by our staff in the UK.
The council maintains data protection controls in line with the General Data Protection Regulation, other data protection legislation and its own Information Security Policy to ensure the effective and secure processing of your personal information.
Paper documents requiring wet signatures will be held within legal Services Department securely.
How long we keep it
Application information will be held for one year after purchase of property.
Basic personal and financial information will be held for the duration that Angus Council has an equity stake in the property.
Financial records will then be held for a period of 6 years after the equity loans have been returned to Angus Council.
