People in Angus, along with communities throughout Scotland, are being asked to use water responsibly to reduce the demand on water supplies.
There’s been a few short showers in recent days, but below average rainfall means there is increasing pressure on private domestic water supplies, including here in Angus.
Significant rainfall over a prolonged period is needed to re-stock some supplies, but forecasts have not suggested this will happen any time soon. Residents and businesses are encouraged to follow this advice to conserve supplies:
- Ensure your supply is secure and there are no leaks or blockages in the system.
- Take short showers instead of baths
- Ensure washing machines and dishwashers are fully loaded
- Harvest rainwater for gardening use or for flushing toilets
- Move livestock to an alternative supply where feasible
- If the supply is shared with others agree conservation and contingency measures with them
If your supply reaches the point that it is not sufficient and you need assistance, the Scottish Government has put in place an emergency scheme for the supply of bottled water to domestic premises. Contact Angus Council at envhealth@angus.gov.uk for support and information.
