The Angus Financial Support Abuse Team (FAST) has issued a strong warning regarding a cold calling scam, targeting the elderly and vulnerable.
The scam involves a company cold calling people in Angus, claiming that they work with the NHS in order to gain access to people homes.
This company have provided their employees with NHS similar uniforms and ID that looks like the are NHS employees. Once an appointment has been arranged they attempt to sell people hospital beds and mattress for thousands of pounds.
Karen Turner, Chair of the Angus Financial Abuse Support Team said, “It’s not the first time we have encountered people being targeted and asked to pay sky high prices for hospital beds or mattresses and we will do whatever we can to prevent anyone suffering any financial harm.”
The Angus FAST – a team taken from Angus Council’s Trading Standards and Welfare Rights Services, The Angus Health and Social Care Partnership Adult Protection Unit, Police Scotland, and NHS Tayside – is here assist anyone who may be at risk of any sort of financial abuse or scam.
