Southesk Primary School Celebrates Victory in Sumdog Angus Competition

Southesk Primary School in Montrose has been crowned the winner of the first-ever Sumdog Angus Competition, after an exciting contest that saw children from schools from across the region showcasing their talents and maths skills.

The competition designed to promote teamwork, creativity and a deeper understanding of core maths skills in a fun way saw children engage in a series of interactive challenges using the online learning resource ‘Sumdog’ to test their knowledge and problem-solving abilities.

Sumdog captivates children and empowers teachers through interactive games and personalised learning experiences. The platform’s curriculum-aligned content is a valuable tool in supporting classroom learning and boosting children’s confidence.

Southesk Primary School’s Primary 5 class stood out in the competition with their exceptional performance, securing the title and the coveted Sumdog trophy.

Convener of Family, Education and Justice, Cllr Lynne Devine said:

“The Sumdog Angus Competition has been a wonderful opportunity for our children to engage with maths in a fun, innovative and interactive way.

"I would like to congratulate all the children and schools involved. It has been a fantastic display of teamwork, creativity and dedication.

“A special congratulations goes to children in P5 at Southesk Primary School for their outstanding achievement in winning the competition. This success highlights the hard work and enthusiasm of both the pupils and their teachers.”
