The Tay Estuary and Montrose Basin Flood Risk Management Plan outlines actions to:
- reduce the damage and distress caused by flooding
- avoid and reduce the risk of flooding
- prepare and protect communities within vulnerable areas and across the local plan district
The plan identifies 19 areas potentially vulnerable to flood risk across the Tay Estuary and Montrose Basin local plan district. Within these areas, there are approximately 3490 residential and 1210 non-residential properties at risk from flooding.
The estimated annual average damage of these flood risks is approximately £13.6million.
The plan covers the first implementation cycle from 2016 to 2022. It is a milestone in implementing the Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act 2009.
Perth and Kinross Council have created the Tay Local Flood Risk Management Plans. This contains information relating to Kirriemuir and Forfar.
