Community Development Programme of Support

Angus Council Vibrant Communities Programme of Support returns for 2024-25.

Vibrant Communities Team in collaboration with Community Development partners, Angus Rural Partnership and Voluntary Action Angus will support the delivery of a series of online and face-to-face workshops and webinars to support and inspire community organisations.

The programme targets groups of all levels to ensure the communities of Angus can:

  • prepare and plan community engagements using the VOiCE tool
  • apply for funding
  • deliver their aspirations
  • understand their roles, responsibilities, and governance requirements

Angus Village Halls Consultation

Angus Council's Vibrant Communities Team is running a consultation to identify needs and challenges faced by the halls community and explore ways to enable village halls to become greener, stronger, and more resilient.

This survey will help us build a fuller picture of village halls in Angus. Results will be shared with relevant partners including Angus Federation of Village and Community Halls (AFVCH) for the purpose of collaboration.

VOiCE is planning and recording software that assists individuals, organisations and partnerships to design and deliver effective community engagement. VOiCE helps you:

  • reflect on what you are trying to achieve
  • develop plans that align with your purpose
  • monitor progress
  • evaluate the process and outcomes
  • learn for future activity

At these interactive workshops Vibrant Communities officers will take you through the four sections of VOiCE (Analyse, Plan, Do, Review) to help you carry out a well-structured, managed and evaluated engagement process.

Trustees Roles and Responsibilities: Good governance and changes in charity law

Thursday, 12 September 2024 at 7pm (tea and coffee from 6:30pm)

Venue: East and Old Parish Church, East High Street, Forfar DD8 2EG

In collaboration with Angus Rural Partnership. 

The session will be delivered by Sarah Brown who is one of only eight solicitors accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Charity Law. Sarah is a Partner at J & H Mitchell WS, Pitlochry, and head of their Charities and Communities Team.

The session will be beneficial to aspiring and serving Trustees, those in senior management in charities, and anyone who is thinking of setting up a charity.

The 90-minute seminar will provide Charity Trustees with practical guidance and an insight into various hands-on aspects of their role, actions and legal responsibilities.

The session will also highlight the changes to Scottish Charity law which will be introduced by the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023, following Royal Assent in August 2023.

Angus Community Development Conference

Carnoustie Golf Links Hotel, Wednesday 30 October, 9:30am to 3:30pm

The conference will be open to all Community groups and organisations within Angus to share, learn and network with other delegates.  A range of speakers from around Scotland, from local and national organisations will showcase exemplar ideas, highlight support and funding guidance to inspire groups and organisations to take their project to the next level, whether it is getting their project off the ground or taking ownership of land or buildings that will lead to inspirational community-led projects.
