Angus Council are inviting residents to have their say on eight Woodland Management Plans for various woodlands across Angus. Woodland Management Plans are a tool to identify issues, opportunities and develop a possible work plan – subject to funding. All to enhance our woodlands, for the benefit of residents and the environment.
The following two types of Woodland Management Plans have been used:
- Woodlands In and Around Town (WIAT) is an initiative tool for woodlands in and around towns, for the benefit of residents and the environment. It aims to work with residents and provide funding, especially in deprived areas, to enhance welcoming local woodlands.
- Rural Woodland Management Plans (RMP) is a management tool used in small rural woodlands to record issues and propose works for future management vision.
A guidance document, available on Engage Angus Online, sets out the proposed Woodland Management Plans, with location maps showing where each WIAT or RMP covers.
You can submit your thoughts via Engage Angus Online in the following ways:
- Complete a survey (a separate short survey is available for each area)
- Post a general comment
- Use the location tool to share your thoughts on your local woodlands
Paper copies of the documents and surveys are also available in libraries during the consultation period. WIAT plans are available in the related local libraries, RMP for the Countryside Parks are located in the Monikie Information Centre and the RMP Small Rural Woodlands are located in Forfar and Arbroath Libraries.
The consultation will close on Monday 23 September 2024.
Following public consultation, the Woodland Management Plans will be updated and submitted to Scottish Forestry for approval.
