The electoral register

The Electoral Register is the list of everyone who is registered to vote in a local area.

You are not automatically registered even if you pay Council Tax. Our register to vote page tells you how to add your name to the register.

There are two versions of the electoral register – the full Electoral Register and the Open Register.

All voters’ details appear on the full Electoral Register. You can view a copy in your local library.

The Open Register is an edited version. It is available for sale and can be used for commercial activities such as marketing. You can choose to have your details excluded from the Open Register.

The Electoral Register is compiled by the Electoral Registration Officer.
