Wildfowling at Montrose Basin

Angus Council is now managing the issuing and selling of wildfowling permits for Montrose Basin Local Nature Reserve.

Permits

There are two types of permit available for wildfowling at Montrose Basin, seasonal and visitor. All permit holders will require to hold appropriate insurance cover (ie Third Party Public Liability of a minimum of £10,000,000) and your insurance certificate number must be provided at time of purchase.

Permits are only available for persons aged 14 years and over and proof of age is required.

Seasonal

Seasonal permits are £28.00 per season and are available to residents in Angus or within 15 miles of Montrose Steeple. Proof of residency is required for purchase. A maximum of 55 seasonal permits are available.

Visitor

Visitor permits are £24.00 per day and are available to both residents of Angus and those outwith the Angus area. A visitor permit is valid from Monday to Friday and applicants are permitted to hold a visitor permit for up to 5 consecutive days.

Up to 5 visitor permits are issued per day on a first come, first served basis. No more than 5 days will be allocated within 10 consecutive permit days and no individual will be allocated more than 25 visitor permits within the season. Permit applications will be accepted until all dates are fully booked.

Please note a minimum of 7 working days is required for the issue of visitor permits.
