General Principles
All council resources, including computers, e-mail facilities and access to the internet, are provided primarily for business purposes and must be used responsibly, lawfully and in accordance with the terms of the council’s e-mail and internet, and Information Security policies.
Computers, e-mail facilities and access to the internet must not be used in any way which is inconsistent with carrying out your job or might conflict with the council’s interests, or to access, use or distribute any material, or to participate in any activity, which is or might reasonably be regarded as, distasteful, offensive, indecent, or harmful to other users.
The use of computers, e-mail facilities and access to the internet is continuously monitored to identify unauthorised, improper, or criminal use. If any misuse is identified, it will be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action and, depending on the nature of the breach, may also liable to legal proceedings.
