On Tuesday 2 April 2024, work started on the A92 in Arbroath.
This first phase of work has closed the fast lane on sections of the northbound and southbound carriageways. These lane closures allow construction works to widen the existing northbound carriageway and configure the carriageway to its proposed new width and alignment. Work is progressing on programme.
Guthrie Port roundabout inner lane closure: May to July 2024
The next phase is to remove the existing Guthrie Port roundabout. This is to prepare for the construction of the realigned roundabout to suit the new single carriageway layout.
The inner ring lane will be closed.
There will be other lane closures on all entries and exits to and from the roundabout.
The roundabout will remain operational during this phase of the works. A temporary road surface will be placed to enable the future phases of construction.
Burnside Drive, Westport: Lane 2 closures
Guthrie Port roundabout traffic signal control: July 2024 to May 2025
Once the existing roundabout has been removed and a temporary road surface laid, the roundabout will be placed under traffic signal control.
This will require temporary 4-way traffic lights at each approach. The traffic lights will route traffic around the construction works area. The new layout will be constructed in quadrants to allow traffic to flow around the works areas.

Safety and minimising disturbance is our priority
During construction, pedestrian and traffic management measures will be in place to make sure the work can be carried out safely for residents, businesses and our workforce.
Safety zones will be in place between passing vehicles and construction plant and operatives. This will be done through standard traffic management set-ups. While we appreciate the work will be disruptive, we will strive to keep traffic flowing as much as is possible.
