Blue Badges

If the person you are applying for is a risk in traffic (see Who can apply for details), download and complete a Risk in Traffic application.

For all other applications, apply online:

Apply for a Blue Badge at GOV.UK

You will need:

• a recent digital photo showing your head and shoulders

You will also need a photo or scan of:

• proof of your address
• proof of your identity
• proof of benefits (if you get any)

You'll also need to know:

• your National Insurance number or NHS Number
• details of your current badge (if you’re reapplying)

You can also use this service to reapply for a Blue Badge. You must reapply for a Blue Badge before your current one expires. You can reapply 18 weeks before your badge is due to expire.

Apply using a paper application form

You can also apply using a paper application form. There are different forms depending on why you’re applying.

• Automatically qualify for a Blue Badge
• Unable to walk or virtually unable to walk
• Risk in traffic
• Child under 3
• Driver with severe disability in both arms
• Organisational badge

What happens next

Applications can take up to 12 weeks or 18 weeks if they are sent to the occupational therapist for an Independent Mobility Assessment.
