Costs and charges

There is no charge for instrumental music tuition.

Instrument hire

There is no charge for the loan of a musical instrument. Your child’s loaned instrument will be given to them, ready to play.

Buying an instrument

The assisted instrument purchase scheme allows VAT-free purchase of instruments.

Consult your instrumental music teacher if you wish to buy an instrument.

Perishables and other materials

You are responsible for the replacement of perishables such as replacement reeds, strings and bow repairs.

These aspects are deemed reasonable wear and tear when looking after a musical instrument.

We ask that, when requested by your child’s instrumental music instructor, you buy materials necessary for lessons such as sheet music and tutor books.

Your child’s music instructors will advise you on the most affordable way to buy these materials.

If buying these materials causes you financial concern, contact your child’s instrumental music instructor to discuss how we can support you.

Other activities

Throughout the year we provide a range of extra-curricular activities such as:

  • orchestras, bands and ensembles
  • residential music camps
  • participation in music festivals, concerts and competitions

These run at an additional cost. In some cases, financial help is available. Contact your child’s instrumental music teacher if finance is a concern.
